“The Idea” from The Brown Daybook 2010 (mixed media collage on paper, 7 x 10")
Created between 2000 and 2010, the Daybooks collages, over 1,000 in number, are made from an array of material ranging from newspapers, photographs, and drawings to wasp's nests, pencil shavings, and shirt pockets. Endless combinations of text and imagery reflect age-old themes: art, sport, food, nature, travel, love.
The collages were published in Robert Carolina’s Daybooks, a set of eight books, by Cobalt Press in 2010. The Daybooks are in the permanent collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. (Robert Carolina is the pseudonym of David Coggins.)
